Disposable Rulers

In this print, “Disposable Rulers,” I created abstract comic strips to convey the sense of polarity caused by parenthood. From my experience of being measured by two different rulers possessed by my father and mother, the idea of this image came out. Usually, people use rulers made upon the International System of Unit to measure objects, but subconsciously, we use self-developed perspectives to measure people’s personalities, habits, and any traits of a person. Forcing one’s measurement on others can cause discomfort and my aim was to create a new sense that our mental rulers can be disposed of and recreated again and again.
